President Donald Trump announces he’s replacing Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and will nominate in her place Oklahoma Republican Senator Markwayne Mullin.
Trump made the announcement on social media yesterday. Mullin has served as the junior senator from Oklahoma since 2023 after serving 10 years in the House of Representatives for Oklahoma's 2nd District. Mullin is a lifelong Oklahoman and a member of the Cherokee Nation.
Mullin will require confirmation by the U.S. Senate, but President Trump says he will begin serving as DHS Secretary on March 31st. He could also be installed in an acting capacity.
