The City of Parsons holds a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Pathways to Freedom Veterans' Memorial.
The event happened Wednesday at the Parsons Municipal Building. Board members from Pathways to Freedom were on hand for the event in addition to community leaders, USD 503 students, and Parsons residents. Students from Parsons high School were at the event to donate a three-quarter scale Humvee that students from the district have been working on for nearly 20 years. The vehicle was donated to Pathways to Freedom to auction off in order to raise funds for the memorial project.
The group is also selling commemorative pavers to help fund the project. For more information, contact Parsons Pathways to Freedom at 620-605-8888.
