A former Independence Community College President is approved to represent Cherryvale on a hiring committee for the College's new president.
Former ICC President Jo Ann McDowell was approved by the city at this week's Cherryvale City Council Meeting. McDowell served as ICC's sixth president and says between her time and now, the college has had 13 presidents and that amount of transition over the years has been hard on the school. McDowell says representation from Cherryvale is important as the USD 447 School District provides 25% of the college's tax base. McDowell says she found some things that concerned her when she started digging into the school's data and budget.
McDowell says she has some concerns with how the college's $19 million budget is being spent.
The hiring committee also includes the Board of Trustees, two representatives from Independence, one from Cherryvale and four other community members.
