Tax receipts for the State of Kansas in February come in below estimates.
The total tax receipts for the last month in at $506.3 million. That number is about 10% or $58 million below estimates. Receipts were also nearly 7.5% lower than February 2025. Corporate income taxes were negative for February, driving the overall decline in tax numbers at just over $300,000 in receipts. That number is $15 million or 102% below estimates.
Individual income taxes fell as well, coming nearly 18% below estimates.. Combined retail sales and compensating use taxes were up only slightly at .2%.
Governor Laura Kelly looked to the February numbers as a reminder to the Kansas Legislature of what she called the “structural imbalance” created by their past budgets as they work to build the new state budget.
