Firefighters from Wilson County Rural Fire continue to battle area grass fires in the Altoona area.

 

On Sunday afternoon, units were called to the scene of a fire southeast of Altoona near the Neosho County line.

 

On Saturday evening, fire crews were called to a rural location east of the city to battle aother grass fire.

 

Firefighters were able to quickly bring both blazes under control. There were no reports of injuries or of damage to property.

 

Grass fires continue to be a concern across Kansas as warm, dry conditions persist. Residents are urged to use extreme caution not to undertake activities that could accidentally cause a fire.
