Independence City Commission Moves Forward with Condemnations

The Independence City Commission votes to move on with demolition of 8 structures in the City deemed dangerous and unsafe.

The move came at last night's meeting. Commissioners adjourned hearings on four other structures to dates later this year to give the property owners time to continue with improvements. The hearing on the Girl Scout House on Park Street was adjourned until December after it was announced that work was underway to have the building placed on the list of state historical sites as well as relocating it to another part of the City. In other housing news, the Independence Housing Authority received approval for the construction of a 3-D printed house at 401 North 10th Street. Construction on the home is expected to begin in April.
