Area students get the chance to show off their business skills at the Montgomery County Area Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge.
The contest and trade show was held on February 24 at the Civic Center in Independence. Numerous students in grades 7 through 12 from Montgomery and Wilson County schools set up booths to show off their own businesses and sell their wares to the public. The contest and trade show are a part of the Life Skills Academy. Students were judged on their presentation and business ideas and cash prizes were awarded to the top four winners.
Madison McClelland placed 1st and earned a $1,000 prize while Maria Perez finished 2nd ($750), with Logan Curtis in 3rd ($500) and Brooklynn Clerk in 4th ($250). All four finishers are students at Cherryvale High School.
