Atmos Rates to Increase in March

The Kansas Corporation Commission approves an agreement allowing Atmos Energy to increase its rates by 12 million dollars.

According to the KCC, the rate adjustment will allow the company to recover costs already incurred to support safe and reliable natural gas service for Kansas customers. The new rates will take effect on Sunday. The average residential customer will see an increase of about $5.69 a month. That represents an increase of about six point eight percent.

A portion of the increase is tied to a change in the fixed monthly customer charge, which will rise from $19.75 to $23 a month. Atmos Energy says the adjustment reflects infrastructure and service-related costs already in place.
