The Kansas Bureau of Investigation makes an arrest in a officer-involved shooting in Manhattan on January 3rd.
38-year-old Brian J. Lovgren was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon after being released from K-U Medical Center where he was being treated for injuries sustained during a confrontation with police more than a month ago.
On January 3rd, deputies from the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Department were called to a residence located just east of Manhattan after reports of gunfire. Officers on the scene then heard more gunshots and observed a man later identified as Lovgren exit a nearby residence armed with a hand gun. One of the deputies fired multiple shots, striking Lovgren and leading to his injuries.
Lovgren faces two counts of aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer and was booked into the Wyandotte County Jail.
The investigation remains ongoing.
