A 19-year-old Joplin man is dead following a single-vehicle accident near the Missouri state line in Cherokee County.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Braxon Gough was traveling westbound on Southeast 110th Street near the intersection with Turkey Creek Road – or about three miles north of Galena - around 7:45 Tuesday night, February 24, 2026. Gough's vehicle crossed the center line, where it then struck a tree and caught fire. Gough was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
