The Kansas Department of Health and Environment announces the agency has opened applications for two initial grants under the Rural Health Transformation Program or R-H-T-P.
The R-H-T-P is a state-wide initiative designed to strengthen health care access in rural communities. Eligible rural health providers are able to apply for the $44 million Regional Partnership Grant and for the $15 million Rural Emergency Hospital/Capital Investment Grant. Applications for the first are due on April 3rd and the second on March 20th.
Kansas recently received federal approval from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for a $221.89 million annual budget to implement the R-H-T-P’s five initiatives. Those initiatives are improving rural health outcomes, strengthening provider sustainability, expanding the workforce, advancing innovative care models, and increasing access through technology.
The R-H-T-P is part of a national $50 billion effort to improve rural health nationwide.
