The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is investigating an incident that damaged a road sign near Riverton.

The damaged KDOT sign is located neat the Riverton roundabout on Route 66, just east of US-400. Sheriff's deputies have contacted an elderly man who is believed to be the driver who struck the sign.

Authorities say the man was not injured in the accident, though his vehicle did sustain some damage. The investigation into the accident remains ongoing.
