KDWP Program Offers Anonymous Reporting to Stop Poaching

A program offered by the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks aims to stop illegal hunting in the state.

Operation Game Thief allows citizens to turn in people suspected of poaching wild animals. Poaching is a serious and costly crime. Every time a poacher illegally kills or takes wildlife, ethical hunters and anglers lose the opportunity to legally harvest those same game animals and fish. K-D-W-P's Mike Blair says the toll free phone number allows anonymous reporting.

Poaching harms wildlife populations and ultimately steals from law-abiding sportsmen and from members of the public who simply value and enjoy seeing wildlife in its natural habitat. Blair says the program helps protect wildlife.

Anyone who thinks they may have witnessed the illegal harvesting of game can make an anonymous report by calling 1-877-426-3843.
