KDOT Seeking Public Comment on STIP Amendment

The Kansas Department of Transportation seeks public comment on the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program, also known as STIP.

The STIP is developed annually by KDOT in accordance with requirements from the Federal Highway Administration and the Federal Transit Administration. The STIP provides a list of projects, regardless of funding source that are administered by KDOT and that will have funds obligated within the next four federal fiscal years.

A major local project currently under consideration through STIP is the US-160 Project in Montgomery and Labette Counties. This project would reconstruct and widen shoulders on US-160 between US-169 near the Bartlett plant to the City of Altamont.. The project would also improve intersections and possibly remove some of the curves along that stretch of highway.

The approval of the STIP amendment requires a public comment period, which runs through March 5.
