Montgomery County Moves Forward on Major Grant Application

The Montgomery County Commission approves moving forward with a federal grant application to fund a major road improvement project.

County Administrator Jonathan Boo has been working to complete this year's application for a Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development or BUILD grant through the U.S. Department of Transportation. If approved, the $18.5 million grant would be used to connect and add roads near the Bartlett soybean plant. Booe says the application would cover most of the cost of the project.

Booe says the match on this application is slightly less than last year, when the application was denied.

A public comment period on the application was held at this week's meeting. There were no Montgomery County residents present at the meeting to comment.
