The City of Coffeyville is awarded a federal grant for a safety audit and engineering study for the US-166 corridor.
The $160,000 comes through the U.S. Department of Transportation's Safe Streets and Roads for All program. The project will evaluate the US-166 corridor and identify implementation-ready safety improvements. As part of the study, the City Public works Department will examine pedestrian safety enhancements, signal timing improvements, crosswalk and sidewalk connectivity, and other safety solutions.
Additionally, the City will receive another $30,000 from the Build Kansas Fund to help cover the local match for the federal grant, minimizing the amount of local tax dollars that will be spent on the project.
