The Montgomery County Attorney's Office continues to pursue criminal convictions across the county.

 

County Attorney Melissa Johnson says her office has scheduled 34 jury trials for 2026.

 

Johnson says the County Attorney's Office is still in need of more lawyers.

 

Johnson adds that both Washburn and KU law schools have told her that young lawyers are in high demand in the Kansas City metro area and that is making hiring difficult in other parts of the state.
