The Parsons Police Department makes three arrests following a series of vehicle burglaries and thefts.
PPD says the incidents happened in several areas of the city, including the Main Street corridor, Grand Avenue, Appleton Avenue, Kay Lane, multiple residential neighborhoods, apartment complexes and areas near local hotels. Officers first responded to a report of a reckless driver that had struck a utility pole and was later determined to have been stolen. As the investigation unfolded, additional reports came in from residents about vehicles being broken into, windows damaged, steering columns tampered with and property stolen. In total, more than a dozen victims were impacted.
Through coordinated efforts involving patrol officers, detectives and surveillance video review, three juvenile suspects between the ages of 14 and 15 were identified and taken into custody. Two were transported to a juvenile detention center. One was released to their parents at the recommendation of the Labette County Attorney due to no prior criminal history. The suspects are facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, including burglary, theft and criminal damage to property. The investigation remains ongoing. Police are reminding residents to lock vehicles, remove valuables, avoid leaving keys inside, park in well-lit areas and report suspicious activity immediately.
