The Kansas Department of Transportation will begin a bridge replacement project in northern Bourbon County next week.
Starting on Monday, work will begin to replace the bridge over the Little Osage River on K-3, just south of the Linn County line or about 19 miles northeast of the City of Moran. An official 36-miles detour will be put in place late next week to guide heavier vehicles around the work zone. The detour will divert traffic via K-31, US-59, and US-54 (see below).
The new bridge will measure just over 300 feet long and 32 feet wide with 12-foot driving lanes and 4-foot shoulders. The $4.19 million project was awarded to Bridges, Inc., of Newton and is funded through the Eisenhower Legacy Transportation Program.
Construction is expected to be completed in December.
