Family of MO Firefighter Agrees to Settlement in Wrongful Death Suit

The family of a southwest Missouri firefighter who died in an off-duty incident reaches a settlement in his wrongful death suit.

21-year-old Tucker Berry was a firefighter and EMT for the Redings Mill Fire Protection District when he died during an off-duty incident in October 2024. Berry died after suffering fatal injuries when he fell off the back of a moving golf cart.

His parents Samuel and Tonya Berry filed a civil suit against Brant Cullen of Carl Junction who was driving the golf cart when Berry was injured. This week, a judge approved a $150,000 settlement in the case.

Criminal charges of involuntary manslaughter are still pending against Cullen in Jasper County.
