Sedan City Council Seeks Written Agreement with Fair Board

The Sedan City Council continues its efforts to draft a Memo of Understanding with the Chautauqua County Fair Board.

Over the course of the past several meetings, there has been an ongoing discussion about a building at the fairgrounds that is owned by the City, b ut supervised by the Fair Board. The issue first arose when the City considered leasing a building on a temporary basis to a local business. It was then discovered that there was no written agreement between the City and Fair Board. In response, the Board sent a letter to the Council outlining the history between the two entities. Council member Adam Clark says the responsibilities of each party need to be clarified.

City Clerk Lana Robinson told council members that there is more at stake than just responsibility. She says what matters is who insures events in the building.

The Council agreed to consult City Attorney Jeff Chubb on the issue.

In other business, the Council approved a contract with Public Wholesale Water Supply District #20 and also approved an expenditure of $950 for tourism ads in Southeast Living magazine.
