The Kansas Senate confirms the reappointment of a member of the Kansas Corporation Commission.

 

This week, state senators approved  Governor Kelly’s reappointment of Dwight D. Keen to a third four-year term as a Commissioner on the Kansas Corporation Commission. Keen rejoins the tow other members of the Commission Andrew French and Annie Kuether.

 

Keen has a B.B.A. degree in business administration, a Master of Science degree in business with emphasis in marketing and finance, and a Master of Arts degree in Economics – each of these three degrees are from Wichita State University.  He also has a Juris Doctor degree in law from the University of Kansas School of Law. Keen is a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran.

 

During his tenure on the Commission, Keen has also been an active member of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners and currently serves on its Board of Directors. He is also the official Kansas representative to the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission.

 

Keen has also served in several other roles in state government including six years as Kansas Securities Commissioner, two terms as a Commissioner on the Kansas Commission on Veterans’ Affairs, and one term as a member of the Kansas Board of Tax Appeals.

The Kansas Corporation Commission regulates investor-owned utilities operating in the state, the Kansas oil and gas industry and motor carrier safety.
