A Texas man is formally charged in the theft of an ATM in Ramona.
35-year-old Ronald Richards, of Channelview, Texas, was officially charged in Washington County District Court Tuesday with second-degree burglary, grand larceny and unauthorized use of a vehicle. The charges stem from a November 2024 incident in which nearly $40,000 was stolen from an ATM location at American Bank of Oklahoma.
According to the Ramona Police Department, DNA swabs from a DeWalt drill recovered at the scene was entered into the Combined DNA Index System or CODIS. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation received a positive link to Richards from the drill on June 10, 2025.
A warrant was then issued for Richards' arrest and he was taken into custody the same day.
Richards will appear in court again on March 6. His bond is set at $20,000.
