A Parsons area community group is hosting a pair of events this week to allow citizens to learn and ask questions about the Deep Fission project.

The project was announced in December and plans to place a small modular pressurized water nuclear reactor in a borehole located one mile underground at the Great Plain Industrial Park in Parsons. A group calling itself the Prairie Dog Alliance is holding an informational event on Saturday morning at the Wall Event Center in Parsons. Area residents are invited to take part in the discussion that will include topics such as how to stay involved and informed about the project. The meeting takes place from 10am to noon.

Alliance founder Marjorie Reynolds will also be at the Parsons Public Library all day today to distribute informational handouts about the group and this weekend's meeting.
