The Neodesha City Commission approves a new electric rate structure for City utilities.
At this week's meeting, commissioners approved a measure that will lower electric rates slightly per kilowatt hour for both 2026 and 2027. The Regulatory & Rates Manager for the Kansas Municipal Energy agency was on hand with a presentation for commissioners. Commissioner Ed Truelove says recent rates studies by KMEA helped the City determine the new rates
The purpose of the change is to provide for better cost control while lessening the reliance on electric funds for other services. Truelove says it was a matter of balancing city finances with the needs of rate payers.
The new rates will go into effect on February utility bills, which will have a March payment due date.
