A local effort to support families facing food insecurity is getting a boost thanks to new community support.

Parsons High School social worker Kristina Mayhue receives a $500 grant for the Viking Food Bank from the Parsons Area Community Foundation, presented by Executive Director Becky Dantic.

The funding will help the food bank purchase items that aren't always available through donations, including certain perishable foods and baby formula. These items are often in high demand for families in need. Even though the food bank is at the high school, it serves families across USD 503 and is open to any district student and their family who may need assistance.
