Two Independence women are honored for their work in the community through the Buddy Ball Program.
The women were recognized by the Independence Chamber of Commerce and the Independence Diversity Task Force at the recent Martin Luther King Day celebration in Independence. Chamber President Lisa Wilson makes the announcement.
Gloria Price is well known in the Independence community for her volunteer work and also for her work at the City swimming pool where she supervises swim lessons in the summer. Samantha Allen is the head softball coach at Independence Community College. Both women volunteer their time with the Independence Buddy Ball Program. Wilson says Price was instrumental in bring the program to the City.
Buddy Ball creates a welcoming space for children of all abilities to experience the joy of sports. The program emphasizes inclusion over competition, ensuring that every player has a buddy by their side, offering encouragement, assistance, and friendship.
