Labette Community College announces its next president, beginning with the upcoming academic year.
Dr. Jason Sharp will succeed longtime president Dr. Mark Watkins, who will retire in July after 14 years of service to the college. Dr. Sharp has been part of the LCC community for 17 years and currently serves as Vice President of Academic Affairs. During his time at LCC, he has held several leadership and instructional roles, including Dean of Instruction and adjunct instructor.
Before joining the college, Sharp served as Chief of Police for the City of Parsons and worked as a law enforcement coordinator and instructor for Missouri Southern State University and the University of Missouri. Dr. Sharp says he looks forward to building on LCC’s strong legacy through collaboration, innovation and a continued commitment to student success. LCC says say they expect a smooth leadership transition and look forward to continuing their mission of providing accessible, high-quality education.
