One person is dead and two others are injured after a weekend accident in Crawford County.

The two-vehicle accident happened around 4:30 Saturday afternoon on K-126 just west of the junction with US-69 near Pittsburg. 37-year-old Craig Silvey was driving a 1995 Ford F-150 and attempted to pass multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed when he encountered a 2023 Chevy Malibu in the oncoming lane. The 16-year-old driver of the Malibu attempted to avoid the collision, but the two vehicles struck head-on.

The collision caused Silvey’s truck to leave the roadway and roll. Silvey was pronounced deceased at the scene. A passenger in the Malibu – 48-year-old Heather Burgess of Girard – suffered serious injuries and was taken to Pittsburg’s Mercy Hospital. The juvenile driver sustained minor injuries.
