Local fire departments have been busy over the past few days with grass fires.

 

On Saturday around 1 p.m., the Dearing Fire Department was dispatched to assist Montgomery County Rural Fire Dist. 1 with a large grass fire northeast of Elk City Lake.

 

Multiple agencies from around the county responded to assist with the fire. The total acreage impacted by the fire is not known at this time. While grassland fire danger is less severe this week with the exception of tomorrow, residents are still discouraged from burning or anything that may cause a spark.
