Independence will be honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. this weekend.

Kathy Shepard with the Independence Diversity Task Force says the day will be full of music, speakers, and community.

The free luncheon begins at 2pm Sunday in the Community Room at Independence High School with official ceremonies to begin at 3 in the IHS Performaing Arts Center. Attendees are asked to bring a donation of canned food for the Food Bank.
