The Independence City Commission says good-bye to a long time commissioner.

 

Like most board and commissions, the new year brought reorganization to the Independence City Commission. The first meeting of the year was the last meeting for Commissioner Tim Emert, who did not run for re-election last fall. Mayor Scott Smith presented Emert with a plaque and says it was an honor to serve on the commission with him.

 

Emert says he has been giving a lot of thought to his time on the City commission.

 

Scott Smith and Tim White were sworn in for the new Commission. Dean Hayse was selected to serve as Mayor for 2026.
