The Nowata Volunteer Fire Department is hosting two benefit events this Saturday with all proceeds going to support the volunteer fire department.

The Chili Cook-Off runs from noon until 3:00pm Saturday afternoon at the Nowata Fire Department, located at 425 South Cedar Street. Competitors can enter their chili for a $20 fee, with awards given in two categories. one for the public and one for inter-department entries. For those who just want to sample the chili, an eight-dollar ticket includes a bowl of chili with fixings, a drink and dessert.

The department is also holding “The Big Raffle,” with the drawing taking place Saturday. Tickets are available from any Nowata firefighter for $10 each or three for $20. Prizes include a $1,000 voucher to Guns & Gals, two loads of rock delivered within Nowata County and a one-year fire and EMS subscription.
