Kansas Governor Laura Kelly delivers her final State of the State address to a joint session of the Kansas Legislature.
Kelly delivered her eighth and final address in Topeka on Tuesday night. During her remarks, the Governor called on leaders to demonstrate civility and to work to gether for the good of all Kansans. Kelly says the state recently saw the effects of such collaboration in efforts to bring the Kansas City Chiefs to Kansas.
Kelly also highlighted the achievements of her administration over the past seven years, including decreasing crime rates to a twenty-year low and increased economic development to the state, specifically citing the Barlett Plant near Cherryvale as an example. Kelly also re-emphasized her policy goals for the coming year, including education and water resources. The Governor says the mental health of the state's children is also a priority.
Kelly concluded her address with another call for civility and collaboration among lawmakers. The 2026 legislative session began Monday.
