The Independence Diversity Task Force will present a Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Community celebration this Sunday afternoon.

 

USD 446 School Board President and event organizer Charles Barker says he appreciates the support the City of Independence has given the event.

 

Before Sunday's ceremony, there will be a free soup luncheon at 2pm in the Community Room at Independence High School. Kathy Shepard with the Independence Diversity Task Force says the entire community is invited to take part.

 

The Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Ceremony will features speakers and musical performances honoring the legacy of Dr. King. The event begins at 3pm Sunday in the Performing Arts Center at Independence High School.
