USD 445 Farm to School Program Continues to Grow

Coffeyville Public Schools looks to bolster agricultural education across the district.

At Monday's USD 445 Board of Education meeting, USD 445 Child Nutrition Director Cassandra Worden gave a presentation on the Farm to School program at this district. Worden says this is a student-centered initiative that integrates sustainable agriculture into the school community. The program uses a hydroponic container farm and on-site greenhouse to produce fresh produce that is directly incorporated into school meals.

Board Member LaKisha Johnson says Worden's work with the Child Nutrition Program has been recognized across the region.

Blue Cross Blue Shield Pathways Grant Coordinator Marci Roberts with Live Healthy Montgomery County says the $25,000 grant will benefit the entire district.

In other business, the board heard a report on the Career and Technical Education Program from Travis Stalford, received the 2025 audit report.
