The Nowata County Commission hears a presentation on a proposed electric transmission line.
During Monday's meeting commissioners heard from representatives from American Electric Power or A-E-P regarding the proposed project in northeastern Oklahoma. A-E-P Senior Public Involvement Specialist Lauren Canales says the proposed line will help transport much needed electricity.
This line would connect to a similar project in Kansas. A-E-P says the project will not affect potential rate increases from the Public Service Company of Oklahoma. A-E-P will hold a public meeting on the matter on January 29 at the Nowata County Fair Building.
The project is expected to begin construction in 2028 and completed in the summer of 2030.
