The Montgomery County Commission will meet today and officially reorganize for 2026.

 

At today’s meeting, a new chairman will be selected for the Board of Commissioners and commissioners will also announce the appointment of the County Newspaper for the new year, a position which rotates between the Independence Daily Reporter and the Montgomery County Chronicle. Re-appointments to several area and regional boards will also be made.

 

The County Register of Deeds will also appear before the commission to present the quarterly report for the last three months of 2025. Commissioners will also convene a 25-minute executive session related to non-elected personnel.

 

Today’s meeting begins at 9am in the Commission Room on the lower level of the Judicial Center in Independence. The public is invited to attend in person or to view the meeting online via the County’s website.
