A Parsons man is arrested on kidnapping and sexual assault charges.
The incident began November 3, 2025 when Joplin Police responded to a report of a sexual assault of a sixteen-year-old female. The victim was walking near the intersection of 7th and Moffet Avenue when a male driving a black SUV offered her a ride. When the victim declined, the driver showed a handgun and ordered her into the car.
The victim was taken to the Schifferdecker Park area, where she was able to avoid the attack by faking a medical emergency and asking for an ambulance. The suspect then drove the victim from the park to the area of 7th and Connor Avenue and dropped her off.
The investigation led to the arrest of 37-year-old Joshua J. Price, of Parsons. Charges from the Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office include 1st degree kidnapping, 2 counts of armed criminal action, 1st degree sexual abuse, and sexual exploitation of a minor.
Price was arrested Tuesday in the 1700 block of Range Line in Joplin after being found by Webb City Police. He is being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond.
