A Dewey man was arrested Tuesday on charges of speeding and attempting to elude.
Dewey PD says 19-year-old Atlas Williams was observed reaching speeds close to 100 miles per hour northbound on Highway 75 Tuesday. Officers say he made an abrupt turn east on County Road 1300, which led to the traffic stop.
Williams initially failed to comply with officers order to exit the vehicle. Once out of the vehicle, Williams allegedly shouted for police to shoot and kill him. He made the same request while being transported to the Washington County Detention Center.
Williams is being held on $75,000 bond, with the reasoning of Williams being a danger to himself. His next scheduled court appearance is set for Friday, February 6th.
