Multiple Boil Water Advisories Issued in SEK

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has issued a boil water advisory for the City of Chautauqua public water supply system located in Chautauqua County and the City of Toronto public water supply system located in Woodson County.

Both advisories were issued on December 26th and will remain in effect until testing can be completed at a certified laboratory.

The advisory for Chautauqua was issued due to two water line breaks that resulted in a loss of pressure in the system, while the Toronto advisory was issued because of a loss of pressure as well.

Customers should boil water for one minute prior to drinking or food preparation or use bottled water instead. Dispose of ice cubes from trays and automatic ice makers. If your tap water appears dirty, flush the water lines by letting the water run until it clears.  Water used for bathing does not need to be boiled, but supervision of children is necessary while bathing so that water is not ingested.
