It's a lighter agenda for the Caney City Council, as they meet for the 1st time as a council of four. In previous years, each ward had two representatives, but that was reduced to one representative per ward to help reduce meeting quorums from five to three.
Ties would continue to be broken by Mayor Josh Elliott, who is set to begin his next term as mayor January 11th. Jeff Culver represents Ward 1, Kenith Butts is the Ward 2 rep, while Elizabeth Burch represents Ward 3 and Becky Dye is the Ward 4 representative.
On the agenda, discussion and possible time extension for the CDBG Housing Revitalization Grant for the State and for SCKEDD. A council president is up for discussion and vote, with the term to begin January 11th. The re-appointment of the City Clerk and Police Chief for the 2026 Fiscal Year is up for a vote, and a vote is also expected to accept Jarred, Gilmore, & Phillips as the CPA to conduct the City of Caney’s 2025 Fiscal Year audit.
Tonight's meeting is set for 6:30 at the east entrance of City Hall, 100 West 4th Avenue in Caney.
