Independence Fire & EMS releases its 2025 calls for service data.
The agency reports 3,193 calls for service in the past year, with more than a third of those calls resulting in the transport of a patient from the scene to a nearby hospital, including Labette Health in both Independence and Parsons, Coffeyville Regional Medical Center, Wilson County Medical Center in Neodesha, and Jane Phillips Hospital in Bartlesville. The total number of calls averaged nearly 9 calls per 24-hour shift.
More than 500 calls were transfers between area hospitals as well as hospitals in Wichita, Tulsa and Kansas City. Independence Fire & EMS also responded to calls for fires, gas leaks, and downed power lines.
