The Montgomery County Commission will meet today for their first official meeting of 2026.

On today’s agenda is the review and approval of the 2026 Rural Fire Budget Amendment. Public Works will also present a petition to commissioners regarding a request for the county to vacate a public road. This would legally end the road’s status as a public thoroughfare and remove the public’s right to use it. Today’s agenda also includes the expected approval of the purchase of cybersecurity software and a discussion of the redistricting boundary map.

Today’s meeting begins at 9am in the Commission Room on the lower level of the Judicial Center in Independence. The public is invited to attend in person or to view the meeting online via the County’s website.
