A New Year's Eve altercation at a Joplin night club leads to shots fired and a car chase.
The incident began around 1:10am on January 1st when a Joplin Police officer heard what he believed to be gunshots in the 500 block of Joplin Avenue. An investigation at Club Night Life revealed that an argument had started inside the club between several individuals. That argument then moved to the club's parking lot, leading to gun fire. All individuals had fled the scene by the time officers arrived, while witnesses stated that the person with the gun had fled in a dark-colored SUV.
Officers located the SUV a short time later, but the driver fled, leading police on a brief chase. The pursuit ended when the driver crashed and all occupants of the vehicle fled on foot. A firearm was recovered from the vehicle.
No one was injured in the shooting, but two Joplin police officers received minor injuries in a crash during the chase.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Joplin police.
