Governor Kelly Announces $6.7 Million in Broadband Acceleration Grants

Three Internet Service Providers in southeast Kansas are among the recipients of state grant funding aimed at expanding high-speed internet access in rural Kansas.

Among the grant recipients are Twin Valley Communications ($249,372 to support 175 homes and businesses) in Chautauqua County, The Junction Internet ($314,493 to support 119 homes and businesses) in Cherokee County, and 3-J-L Holdings ($1,382,686 to support 124 homes and businesses) in Woodson County. Governor Laura Kelly announced the grants on Wednesday. The funding comes through the Broadband Acceleration Grant Program and will be matched with private and local investment. Projects were selected following a thorough review process by an executive committee and a public comment period. Community feedback plays a key role in ensuring transparency and local input in each funding decision.

The projects will deliver reliable internet service to nearly 500 households and businesses in some of the most under-served areas in southeast Kansas.

Governor Kelly called investment in broadband services a way to continue the break down of barriers for businesses, educational institutions, and health care providers
