The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks is inviting Kansans to start the new year by enjoying a First Day Hike tomorrow.

 

First Day Hikes offer individuals and families an opportunity to begin the New Year connecting with the outdoors by taking a healthy hike on New Year’s Day. K-D-W-P's Mike Blair says it's a great way to get outside, exercise, enjoy nature and welcome the New Year with friends and family.

 

Tomorrow's First Day Hike at Elk City State Park begins at 9am. Hikers should meet at the trailhead on Timber Road.

 

Paticipants should bring water, snacks, weather appropriate clothing, and hiking shoes. Other optional gear includes binoculars, a hiking stick, and a camera. Pets are welcome but must be kept on a leash.
