KHP Sees Increase in DUI Arrests, Speeding Citations Over Christmas Holiday

 

The Kansas Highway Patrol releases its Christmas Holiday Activity Report for 2025.

 

The report shows an increase in both DUI arrests and speeding citations issued over the reporting period as compared to the past two years. For 2025, K-H-P troopers arrested 27 suspects for DUI as compared to 7 in each of the two previous holiday seasons. Troopers also issued a total of 769 speeding citations this year, against 227 last year and 370 in 2023.

 

The report also indicated 809 motorists assistance calls this year. There was only one fatal crash this holiday season. The wreck was non-DUI related.

 

The reporting period for the holiday ran from 6pm on Christmas Eve through midnight on Sunday, December 28th.
