The Kansas Corporation Commission announces two public hearings on Evergy's application for a proposed 133-miles electric transmission line that would run through areas of Chautauqua, Cowley, Sumner and Sedgwick counties.
The proposed line that would run through the four counties would begin at the Buffalo Flats Substation near Garden Plain, Kansas, in Sedgwick County and end at the Delaware Substation near Delaware, Oklahoma, in Nowata County. The public hearings will give Kansas residents the opportunity to ask questions and make public comments to the K-C-C about the project while learning more about what the venture entails. K-C-C staff and Evergy representatives will also conduct an open house before each hearing.
The first hearing will be Wednesday, January 7, at Sedan High School, 416 Elm Street in Sedan. The open house will begin at 3:30 with the hearing to follow at 6pm.
The second hearing will be on Thursday, January 8, in the Richardson Performing Arts Center at Southwestern College, 100 N. College St. in Winfield, . An open house will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. in Christy Room 201. Both are located in the Christy Administration Building.
