Montgomery County discusses future road projects and efforts to fund them.
At Monday’s commission meeting, Public Works Director Brandon Beurskins told commissioners that the county would again pursue state grant money to complete the project on South Buckeye Street. He reported that funding would once again be available through the Kansas Department of Transportation High Risk Rural Road Program. Beurskins says the design and engineering has already been done on the project that would continue from James School to State Line Road.
If funded, the project would likely not begin until 2028. Other future long-term projects commissioners would like to see considered include Coffeyville’s Cline Road from the golf course north, and County Road 1300 in Caney from the Caney Valley Speedway north to Havana.
